Trekking in Georgia - Video of the Big Trek Shatili - Omalo

Our 2017 trekking tour will take you both in the Tusheti and Khevsureti region. Shatili in the West and Omalo in the East are the only real villages along the route, which makes for a genuinely challenging outdoor experience. Watch a video footage of our past trek !

About the trip
This is primarily a camping trip with some nights in hotels and locals' houses. The majority of walking is on good mountain paths. The hardest and the longest day (8-9 hours walking) of the trek is the day when we cross Atsunta Pass. Here the path gets narrow and sometimes almost disappears. Crossing Atsunta Pass involves walking on quite steep slopes. Some parts of the route lie on narrow, rough mountain tracks. We cross most of the streams by bridges, but there are few small streams to be crossed without bridges. An average day involves about 5-6 hours walk. The trek is suitable for any normally fit and healthy person used to trekking. The total trek is 5 days walking. Horses will carry all the luggage allowing us to walk with a daypack only.

Important notes :
This is not an all-inclusive organized trip, this is a guided trekking.
Accomodation in the mountains (Shatili and Omalo), although in stunning places, is very basic.
Transportation will be also very basic and mountain roads are by no means to be considered as safe as in a developed country.

The program may change depending on weather and road conditions or other safety reasons.
